SHOPPING!

"Holy Cow did you swallow a watermelon?" As it echoed through the Maternity store Jamie looked over to see her Dad laughing and walking towards her. "NO!" Jamie said back to him. "ITS A PILLOW they have to help you shop for maternity clothes so you know what you will look like when you have a big belly." This was the first look that Jamie, her parents, and I all got of what to expect as Tootsie starts to grow in Mommy’s belly.

We spent the whole weekend relaxing and then shopping for what’s to come. That is what we seem to be doing lately is planning, shopping, reading, and praying for what’s to come. We are going in for our next check up soon and will be able to update everyone on how awesome Mom and Tootsie are doing. Until next time…

Got 'Em Good Part 2

We had a great "Labor Day" gathering at the Tamminga household. Jamie and Kari were in charge of the dessert. So Jamie and Kari told everyone they spent hours on the cake and all had to be present when it was revealed. Below is the video we were able to get of the big surprise...

Here is a close up of the cake...

Got 'Em Good Part 1

Jamie and I get asked how our parents took the news all the time.

Well here it is:

We got together with my folkls to celebrate my Dad's birthday. So Jamie and I had Eric and Holly come out and I grilled out for all of us.

After the grub was gone we decided to give Dad his present. Below is the picture of Dad opening his gift bag that was filled with pink and baby blue tissue paper. The gift is a picture frame that says some sweet line of Grandchildren being a gift from God. The pictures has Jamie's first ultrasound in it.

Shock is the understatement for his reaction. He started reading, then realized it said Jamie's name on the ultrasound. He started to tear up. Looked to Jamie and asked if it was real. She quickly said yes. Dad started tearing up more and the whole time Mom is wondering what in the heck is going on. Finally, he showed the picture frame to Mom and all knew we were expecting.

Jamie and I had made dessert for my folks and below is what we made.

Dancing and Waving

This is me at 14 weeks 3 days. I have grown quit a bit since my last picture was taken. If you look at my picture closely you can see my little nose and my lips. If you see the white dot just above my mouth that is my little hand. The technician taking my picture just missed me waving. All my little fingers were up. I am busy dancing and waving inside Mommy's belly. I hope she doesn't mind the dancing too much. I think I am still small enough she can't feel my break dancing moves. I will show everyone the moves when I get older. Can't wait till the next update!

A Visit to the Specialist

At our 13 week Dr appt we found out that I have a Protein S Deficiency. This is a genetic blood disorder that I didnt know I had until further investigation into my medical records from my blood clot in 2003. Pat and I were sent to Childrens Hospital to meet with a specialist to determine what needs to happen from here. Our appointment today started off with an ultrasound that was AMAZING! Our first ultrasound was at 9 weeks and we couldnt see much. Today (14 weeks) was much different! We were able to see the spine, the little fingers, and a baby that was dancing all over my belly!! I dont know where this child gets all of his/her energy from!? :) There was even a second there that we think we got a wave from our little bundle of joy! It was the perfect start to our week to see that!
After the Ultrasound we met with the specialist who talked to us about the shots I need to do daily in my belly due to this Protein S Deficiency. We were able to ask a LOT of questions that put our mind at ease. If a poke to the belly each morning is what I need to do to make this work, then I am ready!!! The Dr also informed us that we would have to deliver earlier than full term so that they are able to monitor everything.
All and all, we feel good at where we are at right now. The baby and I are in good hands with all of the Dr's we are seeing monthly, as well as at home with Pat doing everything he can to make sure I am comfortable!

More updates to come . . . .I feel blessed to be surrounded by so much love from our family and friends!

13 Week Check Up

We have finally got to the point where the majority of people know of our exciting news. FINALLY after all the secrets and little fibs we had to come up with. Today was amazing and made it all worth it. I took Jamie into see Dr. Duffy today for our check up.

Dr. Duffy came in and we got to hear our little miracle. Thump, thump, thump. The heart beat was going so fast. It eased our minds and our hearts to hear Tootsie's heart beat. Today was my first proud Dad moment and the baby isn't even here yet. We will keep you posted on any new updates and how Mom and Tootsie are doing.
